3X7 was engaged by the Owner to design and build a semi basement storage area, creating a wine cellar and wine tasting room. The room was handed over to 3X7 after sand stone excavated and concrete slab poured. The design has considered a few issues: storm water drainage, water proofing, acoustic insulation, ventilation, and conditioning of wine cellar room. The interior was built up with metal stud framing and villa boards sheeting, then waterproofing to entire floors and walls. The room is fully concealed with acoustic insulation on perimeter walls and whole ceiling to create peace and silent interior environment. 5 off silent ventilation fans was installed to ventilate not only the interior but the voids between stud walls and existing sand stone walls. The walls in wine tasting room is finished with loss sand stones, ceiling finished Western Red Cedar lining boards. Wine cellar room has equipped with specialized wine cellar conditioner, and the whole cellar room has built up with thermal insulation layers, to create a consistent low temperature of 12-14 degree and high humidity (around 70%) condition for wine storage. A double glazed with argon gas filled, aluminium powder coated timber finish door was installed to match the environment. All lighting is dimmable to create ambient interior atmosphere.
